First Chakra Meditation: How to Meditate Upon Mooladhara (The Root)

Shri Ganesha was created by the Adi shakti, the Primordial Power of God Almighty, without the cause of male-female principle.
Being born out of the Primordial Mother, He is with Her all the times and hence in every Chakra in the human being. He is the embodiment of innocence, purity, and chastity in creation.

Invoking The Principle Deity

Mooladhara chakra is the root of your being. This chakra connects you to Mother Earth and helps maintain physical health, well-being and vitality. It also deals with survival instincts like self-preservation, safety and security. When Mooladhara chakra is out of balance it can result in fear, anxiety or insecurity issues that manifest as depression, low self-esteem or difficulty trusting oneself or others.

Since the root chakra is where much of one’s biopsychological and morphogenetic functioning occurs, invoking Lord Ganesha to bless your root chakra is a very positive activity.

Kundalini awakening is a process wherein kundalini energy arises from Mooladhara and moves up and down the spine through each chakra until it reaches Sahasrara.

The idea of Kundalini awakening can be seen as Ganesha arising from his slumber for protection. Also, Kundalini force is representative of divine feminine aspect, the Adi Shakti. So it seems fitting to invoke blessings of these two deities for root chakra activation and kundalini awakening.

Ways To Invoke Ganesha For Mooladhara Activation

Formulate the body’s energy by using chants, hymns or mantras while invoking Ganesha and Adi Shakti. This will greatly help you in activating the free flow of Kundalini energy.

As you allow your breath to deepen from the natural rhythm until it becomes a gentle steam engine, visualize that accumulated psychic negativity is being exhaled with each inhalation; united now with your mantra (I am) and then say “Om Namah Shivaya”, meaning ‘O Lord Shiva, please come within me’.

Chant this mantra a few times. Now begin to feel lightness throughout your body as the shell of negativity starts to peel away from its weight on your psyche like old skin!

Recite this following prayer, in full devotion, for Mooladhara balancing and healing;

Lord Ganesha, I am going to be worthy of Your attention.
Please make me innocent, so that I am in Your attention.
Shri Mother, You who are Shri Ganesha,
please give me wisdom and discrimination.

Shri Ganesha, please be kind and merciful and forgiving,
that You manifest within ourselves.
Let all these hypocritical things,
all these conditionings,
and all these wrong ideas we have,
or all the wrong life we have had,
just disappear like thin air;
and let the Beautiful Moonlight of Your Soothing
Qualities of Innocence
be manifested through us.
